Dominican Republic- Beach

Sunday June 1, 2014 (Day 2 of our mission trip)

We went to the beach for church and an afternoon of relaxation.

It was an hour drive from the Compound to the beach and upon arrival we quickly unloaded and set up our towels under the shade of the trees.

We gathered as a group to meditate over scripture... listening to worship songs as we contemplated the Word.
Our verses came from Philippians 2.

As we closed our time of worship... we prayed for our team and the opportunities to serve while we were in the Dominican. We asked God to bless us those that we encountered.

Then we headed down to the water together.
Lunch was sandwiches and chips and water (our first of many lunches of sandwiches, chips and water :)
Then back to the water to play in the waves.
The time passed quickly and our beach time came to a close.
It was a time of relaxing and an opportunity for us to be together as team- enjoying the beauty around us.
Here is the 1 and only picture of the four of us in the Dominican.

We were to encounter our first adventure of trip on our drive back to the Compound... The Gecko (our bus) broke down and we were stranded on the side of the road for over an hour as we awaited for Rick to return in the other bus to bring us home.
But God used the time in the bus as we invited the interns to share their stories... to hear their testimonies and to catch a glimpse into their lives and what God is doing for them.
A blessing in the midst of a challenge... God was already teaching us and it was only our first day.
